This is an entry level position.

We are seeking a recent graduate from a 4yr college or university.

The incumbent will be working on true cutting edge applications.

The candidate will be administering VZW's application servers (websphere) on a Unix platform and will be doing java development approximately 20% of the time.

This team is responsible for our handset self service applications as well as customer communications enterprise systems.

The Member of Applications Staff works as a member of the Applications Development team. Typically, the incumbent will require close supervision and a significant amount of training. However, it is expected that the Member of Applications Staff will increasingly demonstrate the ability to work independently.

Proactively communicates status reports and critical issues to manager. Successfully completes all relevant technical and professional training programs in accordance with Performance Agreement goals and objectives.

Requirements:

Bachelors degree in Computer Science/Information Systems with a solid foundation in Java programming.

Knowledge of Unix scripting

Any experience with Websphere is a major plus (not a must)

Technical aptitude, including the ability to understand detailed technical information

PC literacy, including working knowledge of desktop applications (e.g., Microsoft Office, e-mail, etc.)

Working knowledge of information systems concepts

Good interpersonal skills, including the ability to follow directions

Good organizational and problem solving abilities

Good verbal and written communications skills
