Description:Title: Senior Research Associate for Design and AnalysisGroup: Division of Research, Evaluation, and Technology (RET) Responsibilities The Senior Research Associate for Design and Analysis will serve as a statistical consultant to project managers, run advanced analyses and prepare written interpretations of those analyses and provide professional development to staff. A portion of his or her time will also be devoted to directly working on and managing research projects. This position will be based in our New York City office. The specific tasks for which the Senior Research Associate for Design and Analysis will be responsible include the following: Collect, store, manipulate, and maintain data sets. Conduct data analyses and prepare written, oral, and/or graphic interpretations of said analyses and methodologies used. Provide technical expertise (e.g., serving in an advisory capacity, providing training/ mentoring) to staff in research design and analysis. Participate in project teams as lead researcher on quantitative components. Communicate with clients on data collection and analysis issues. Participate in promotional activities, such as the preparation of proposals and grant applications. Skills & Abilities Education and Prior Work Experience Ph.D. in applied statistics or research and measurement with a minimum of five years experience in public education, child welfare, juvenile justice or other related applied research setting using SPSS or other statistical packages. -- OR -- Master?s degree in related fields with at least ten years experience in public education, child welfare, juvenile justice or other related applied research setting using SPSS or other statistical packages. Technical & Other Skills Proficiency in advanced statistical methods and research methodology with expertise in: Regression and Hierarchical Linear Modeling (HLM) techniques Sampling and matching (e.g., propensity score) methods. Random assignment and quasi-experimental design Proficiency in software packages used for data analysis (e.g., SPSS, SYSTAT) and presentation of findings (e.g., Word, Excel) Knowledge of relational databases and reporting tools (e.g., Excel, Access, SQL, Crystal Reports) Knowledge of qualitative research methods (e.g. interviews, focus groups, observations) and data analysis using software packages such as NVivo.
