Six Apart, a leader in Web 2.0 products and platforms such as OpenID, Atom, Vox, MovableType and Vox is growing, and we are looking for a Sr. (Contextual) Ad Engineer.

The Senior Advertising Engineer leads the technical aspects of Six Apart?s advertising efforts across all its product lines, which include two of the most highly trafficked sites on the internet. S/he is responsible for creating and maintaining an ad serving infrastructure, analyzing the performance of various types of campaigns, and optimizing revenues from advertising. Additionally, s/he works cross-functionally to review and approve campaigns. The Senior Advertising Engineer is an interdisciplinary individual who works closely with others across the company to maximize advertising revenues while maintaining security and privacy.

Duties

? Design, deploy and maintain Six Apart?s ad serving infrastructure, including our own ad server.
? Develop targeting algorithms and continuously improve ad revenues using A/B testing protocols.
? Perform technical evaluation of proposed ad campaigns and perform any engineering duties necessary to roll them out.
? Write/deploy web-based reporting tools allowing access to and analysis of advertising

Professional Qualifications

? 3+ years of experience in software engineering.
? MS/CS or equivalent; good basic understanding of statistics.
? Strong programmer with experience writing high-volume web applications and/or infrastructure components.
? Strong working knowledge of SQL.
? Experience with Perl, data analysis, security considerations and/or advertising server software preferred.
? Knowledge of advertising targeting algorithms and/or machine learning algorithms strongly preferred.

? Strong verbal and written communication skills.
? A love of experimentation and tweaking, and the patience to achieve greatness one step at a time.
? A appreciation of business requirements, and the ability to work collaboratively with non-engineers to solve business problems.
? Detail-oriented and highly attentive to commitments and schedules.
